Objective: Students will apply prior knowledge of Renaissance Women and apply it to the female characters in Othello.
Aim: Which of the women in Othello conventional vs. unconventional?
Desdemona and Emilia are conventional vs. unconventional. They are loyal. Desdemona is very loyal to her husband, however he later starts to blame Desdemona and she is blamed as unconventional. At the end of the Play Emilia was unconventional because she no longer was loyal to her husband she told the truth about his wrong doings.
Do Now: Write a sentence starting with: I am conventional/unconventional when compared to my peers because I agree to what everyone says. I am the quite one while they blabber about stuff.
Characterize Desdemona, Emilia, and Bianca. Use chart paper and draw an image of each character and characterize themusing arrows to indicate their characteristics.
