Do Now: Free Write the Prediction: How will Dorian's engagement to Sibyl change his relationship with Lord Henry?

Lord Henry becomes jealous and knows that there relationship will never workout.

Comprehension Check Questions:

Who is Victoria?
Victoria is Lord Henry's wife, but later divorced him.

How would you characterize Sibyl Vane?
Subyl Vane is a seventeen year old actress and she adores Dorian Gray.

How/Where did she meet Dorian?What does she call Dorian?
She met him backstage and calls him prince charming.

How long do they know each other in the story so far?
Both Dorian and Sibyl know eachother for only 3 weeks.

Critical Thinking:
Examine the relationship between Lord Henry and His wife Victoria and compare with the relationship between Lord Henry and Dorian.

Lord Henry and Victoria are divorced. They don't really like eachother. Lord Henry also does not seem to like women in this book after the divorce. Lord Henry's relationship with Dorian becomes akward after he finds out that Dorian is in love. Dorian starts to make bad examples of women and tries to explain why they shouldn't be loved. He knows that the relationship with Dorian and Sibyl will not workout.

How does Lord Henry feel about the relationship between Dorian and Sibyl?
He feels that their relationship will not seem to workout.

Analyze Lord Henry's view of women, men and fidelity.
Lord Henry thinks that women are just a form of decorative sex. He also says that no women is a genious.

Analyze the change in the relationship between Dorian and Basil.
Dorian barely talks to Basil anymore when Basil painted his picture. He spends more time with Lord Henry.
